Hier schrieb ich was dazu, dass Untersuchungen wieder und wieder zu dem Schluss kommen, dass Maenner die Porn schauen weniger frauenfeindlich sind. Vor laengerer Zeit schrieb ich schon mal ganz kurz was dazu, dass Porn und sexuelle Gewalt gegen Frauen antikorreliert sind. Das war mir zu wenig und deswegen folgt heute mehr.

Mal hørt man Dieses („Porn stachelt an“), dann wieder Jenes („Porn wirkt praeventiv da Masturbation beruhigt“), aber wie kann man den Einfluss von Porn auf ganz konkrete sexuelle Gewalt am besten beobachten?

Natuerlich indem man ein „vorher-nachher“-Szenario analysiert. Dies geschah am Beispiel von Japan in der Untersuchung, die im Artikel „Pornography, Rape, and Sex Crimes in Japan“ (hier eine freie Version, falls das der Øffentlichkeit nicht zur Verfuegung steht) vorgestellt wird.

Gleich im ersten Abschnitt werden einige Artikel der beiden Kategorien „Dieses vs. Jenes“ vorgestellt. Und es stellt sich heraus, dass „Jene“-Studien glaubwuerdiger sind als „Diese“-„Studien“ (man beachte bitte die doppelten Anfuehrungszeichen). Das Zustandekommen der Letzteren geschieht naemlich nicht nach wissenschaftlichen sondern ideologischen Punkten. Aber die geneigte Leserin oder der geneigte Leser møge sich das selbst anschauen.

Dann geht der Artikel auf die Vorher- und Nachhersituation der Verfuegbarkeit von Porn in Japan ein, inwiefern sich eine Aenderung vollzog und wann das geschah. Sozusagen eine Beschreibung der „Marktsituation“.

Das sieht dann bspw. so aus:

In 1993, a survey […] found that approximately 50% of the male and 20% of the female middle and upper high school students were found to regularly read “porno-comics.^„

Um das dann mit den polizeilichen Statistiken zu vergleichen. Dies wiederum sieht dann so aus:

[…] the incidence of rape has been steadily and dramatically [decreased] […]

Ohhh … da høre ich es schon fast: Aber denk doch mal jemand an die Kinder!!
OK, tun wir das mal:

The most dramatic decrease in sex crimes was seen when attention was focused on the number and age of rapists and victims among younger groups […].

Whut? Sagt uns der sog. „gesunde Menschenverstand“ nicht eher dass wir lieber dieser Hypotese zustimmen sollten:

We hypothesized that the increase in pornography, without age restriction and in comics, if it had any detrimental effect, would most negatively influence younger individuals.

Verdammt:

Just the opposite occurred. The number of juvenile offenders dramatically dropped every period reviewed from 1,803 perpetrators in 1972 to a low of 264 in 1995; a drop of some 85% […].

Und wer denkt an die Opfer?

The number of victims also decreased, particularly among females younger than 13 […]. In 1972, 8.3% of the victims were younger than 13. In 1995, the percentage of victims younger than 13 years of age dropped to 4.0%.

Oder anders:

In 1972, 33.3 % of the offenders were between 14 and 19 years of age; by 1995 that percentage had decreased to 9.6%.

Ich behaupte also mal das Folgende: Lasst die Jugend (Maedchen wie Jungen) Porn schauen! Das macht es sicherer fuer alle Kinder.

Aber nicht nur das schlimmste aller sexuellen Verbrechen antikorreliert mit Porn:

[…] sex crimes in every category, from rape to public indecency, sexual offenses from both ends of the criminal spectrum, significantly decreased in incidence.

Und ich møchte es gerne nochmal wiederholen:

Most significantly, despite the wide increase in availability of pornography to children, not only was there a decrease in sex crimes with juveniles as victims, but the number of juvenile offenders also decreased significantly.

Um gleich einem der ueblichen Einwaende zuvor zu kommen:

[…] the rate of convictions for rape increased markedly from 85% in 1972 to more than 90% in the 1980s and more than 95% in the 1990s.

Es wird auch plausibel erklaert warum dem so war:

This might be because, increasingly, in these latter years the rapist was less likely to be known to the victim, so proving lack of consent became easier.

Womit auch das „Nicht Anzeigen“-Problem entschaerft ist, denn von Fremden veruebte Gewalt wird schneller angezeigt, als wenn dies unter Bekannten geschieht. Und so steht es dann auch dort:

[…] over the two decades reviewed in the present study, there was also most probably an increasing likelihood of reporting, which makes the decrease in sex crimes seen in Japan even more impressive.

Und der andere typische Einwand, dass vergewaltigte Personen nicht ernst genommen werden, wird auch angesprochen:

[…] rape has always been taken seriously.

Und …

Indeed, one can argue that the inhibitions to reporting have decreased. The case can be made that the increased prevalence of [sexually explicit Material] makes it easier for children, women, or likely victims to be less inhibited in talking with their parents, partners, or authorities about sexual matters; particularly about any sex offense.

Soweit dazu.

Aber … aber … aber … wichtige Leute sagen doch immer und immer wieder, dass Porn bøse ist!

OK, ich schreibe es gern nochmal:

Despite the absence of evidence, the myth persists that an abundance of sexual explicit material invariably leads to an abundance of sexual activity and eventually rape […]. Indeed, the data we report and review suggests the opposite.

Auszerdem …

[…] it was found in the 1960s before the influx of sexually explicit materials into the United States, those who committed sex crimes typically had less exposure to SEM in their background than others and the offenders generally were individuals deeply religious and socially and politically conservative […]. […] The upbringing of sex offenders was usually sexually repressive, often they had an overtly religious background and held rigid conservative attitudes toward sexuality.[…]. […] During adolescence and adulthood, sex offenders were generally found not to have used erotic or pornographic materials any more than any other groups of individuals or even less so […]. […] sex criminals were several years older than noncriminals before they first saw pictures of intercourse.

Aber mit Feminismus hat das nichts zu tun!

[…] feminist criminologists who have studied rape in Denmark, also agree that there is no relationship between pornography and rape […].

Am Ende wird es dann nochmal genau auf den Punkt gebracht:

Wilson […] found that “Males who develop deviant patterns of sexual behavior in adulthood have suffered relative deprivation of experience with pornography in adolescence” […]. He suggests that pornography not only can, but does, help to prevent criminal sex problems […].

Und …

Thirty-nine percent of the convicts surveyed by Walker […] agreed that pornography “provides a safety valve for antisocial impulses.”

Soviel dazu …

Aber das ist ja mein Weihnachtsartikel fuer euch, meine lieben Leser und Leserinnen. Deswegen folgt noch eine feine andere Quelle.

Auch in „Pornography and sex crimes in the Czech Republic“ wird ein „Vorher-Nachher“-Uebergang untersucht:

[…] a new law in the Czech Republic […] allowed pornography to a society previously having forbidden it […].

Und um es gleich vorweg zu nehmen:

As found in all other countries in which the phenomenon has been studied, rape and other sex crimes did not increase.

Hoeh? Welche anderen Laender?
Diese hier:

[…]  Denmark, Sweden, West Germany, and the U.S. […], […] Croatia […] and Finland […], […] Japan […] Shanghai, China […] and Hong Kong […] with very different histories and social structures from those studied earlier […], […] Reassessment of the situation in the U.S. […]

Und was haben diese Studien herausgefunden?

[…] while the amount and availability of pornography increased, the rates of sexual crimes decreased.

Und ganz konkret in Tschechien:

[…] the widespread increase in pornography since 1989 did not appear to have any noticeable adverse social effect as measured by any reported increase in sex crimes.

Und wiederum …

[…] there were indications that, post communism, Czech society became more sensitive to rape and sex related crimes.

Welche da bspw. waren:

Organizations for victim support […]. […] Training increasingly focused on special police details to enhance their ability to communicate with and deal empathically with victims.

Mehr schreibe ich zu dem Artikel nicht, ist es doch nur eine Wiederholung des bereits oben Abgehandelten.

Ganz wichtig ist aber, dass es diese Studie(n) gibt. Es wird dadurch naemlich gezeigt, dass die leichtere Verfuegbarkeit von Porn Laender, Kulturen und Zeiten uebergreifend hilft, (sexuelle) Gewalt zu verhindern!

Apropos Verfuegbarkeit von Porn … da war doch was die letzten Jahre. Das hat doch bestimmt mal wer untersucht. Stimmt! Und die Untersuchung ist publiziert im Artikel „Pornography, Rape, and the Internet (PDF)„.

Das ist so ein Artikel, wo es reicht die Zusammenfassung zu lesen. Ich zitiere die Essenz:

[…] the arrival of the internet was associated with a reduction in rape incidence.

Aber bestimmt sind ueberhaupt alle Verbrechen weniger geworden, weil die Leute sich jetzt nur noch virtuell beschimpfen. Nun ja …

While the internet is obviously used for many purposes other than pornography, it is notable that growth in internet usage had no apparent effect on other crimes.

Der Rest des Artikels ist hauptsaechlich eine rigorose statistische Analyse, die man sich nicht wirklich antun muss.

Passend zu dieser speziellen Zeit: alles ist viel besser, als wir manchmal glauben møgen :) .
